What a cat-back system actually does

Reduces backpressure — most factory exhausts are restrictive past 3,500 RPM. A 2.5" or 3" mandrel-bent cat-back unlocks 8–20 hp on most NA platforms, 15–40 hp on turbocharged builds.

Sound profile — deeper baseline, more aggressive at WOT. Many systems offer multiple muffler choices (Touring / Sport / Race) to dial in volume.
